Majerija is for sure one of my favourite venues in Slovenia. For it’s charm. The homestead is a traditional Vipava valley house placed just outside of an idyllic village of Slap, among the vineyards. Also for their fine cuisine. They offer traditional dishes with a contemporary touch. The food prepared with natural ingredients follows the seasons. And they serve it in a cosy, traditional environment of an old homestead.

The venue itself got me years ago, so even me and my wife organised our wedding there. When couples are looking for a venue in Vipava valley and want some advice from a perspective of a wedding professional or a local, Majerija is the first on he list.

Having said all the above, I am always thrilled when someone wants me to document their wedding there. It is an honour. Every single time I get the opportunity to work there. Same was with Doris and Ivan.

These two gathered their families and a group of friends and a bunch of dogs. A relaxed group of people cherishing some fine food, good wine and dancing under the stars. The kind of a wedding that you feel like you are a part of it. The kind of a wedding where everything just falls to its place. When even the weather decides to play along. What do you want more than a light breeze on a hot september day?

What I also love about the wedding at Majerija is that you don’t have to go far to have the portraits done. A walk around the venue offers just enough to make a diversity of photos in a short time. But if you wish to spend more time with your photographer, there are a lot of different spots in upper Vipava valley. From abandoned mansions, narrow streets or mountain views. All within a few minutes in a car.

Wedding seasson is over. Well I still have one elopement in november, but with the way things are moving, there will probably be no more weddings this year. But nevermind, this post is about the first one of the seasson. The first elopement during the pandemic in San Dorligo della Valle, a small town just outside Trieste in Italy.

The couple was planning to elope in this small town and later have some photos taken in the picturesque valley of Val Rosandra. But as the pandemic Covid-19 was spreading through Europe, they weren’t sure if they would be able to fly to Italy. Well, two days before they had confirmed to me they are in Italy and we can go with the elopement.

Then, the next problem came out…the weather. It was pouring all day long and it was impossible to visit Val Rosandra in that weather. After the ceremony in the small office at the town hall I quickly decided to sit in the car and drive to Slovenia, that is actually just a few minutes away. We were going to take their portraits indoors. And is there a better way to do it if you have a gorgeous greenhouse. And there is one – a botanical garden in Sežana, Slovenia. So we didn’t mind the rain any more.

Just two days later this elopement wouldn’t be possible as all the borders with Italy were closed. And now we still live in this “changed” world trying to get used to everyday changes.

Great Gatsby inspired wedding.

Being a photographer at Great Gatsby inspired wedding at Tri Lucke was for sure one of the highlights of the season. However, let’s start in the begining.

The Past.

A few years ago I have planned a boho chic styled shoot at Villa Rafut together with Jasna from Pravljični trenutek. When we were planning the whole thing I had one couple in mind. And they both were just perfect.

The Couple.

So, after a few years, they called me. For me this was such an honour. It means that they were more than satisfied with my work on that styled shot. After they have revealed their plans to me, I was more than happy to be their wedding photographer.

Great Gatsby.

I already knew this two had a great taste and style. Therefore I wasn’t surprised when I heard they are doing a Great Gatsby inspired wedding. The theme was just perfect for both of them. Everyone involved did a perfect job to make this wedding one of a kind.

The wedding.

The whole wedding was held at Tri Lučke. A perfect venue for this kind of a wedding, just above Krško. Even though I am not impressed with the surroundings of this place, their service and food is on a very high level. When I asked for a dress, to make a couple of shots of it, like usual, Meta came out with a golden one. Yes, a golden wedding dress from the hands of Maja Ferme. All her brides maids wore dark blue and they fit the theme just perfectly.

Well, even though it was all so perfectly organised the whole wedding was just so laid back. Everyone was having fun the whole day. Yes, this wedding was one of a kind!

Feltre.

A city in northern Italy in the province of Belluno is sitting just under the Dolomites. I drove through several times when going to San Martino di Castrozza, a resort in the mountains, but never gave much of attention to it. Than one day I got an email. From a bride to be coming from South African republic and getting married in Feltre. So they have invited me to a South African wedding in Italy.

Villa San Liberale.
The couple met some friends from Italy and they fell in love with the city. The wedding and the reception was held in a beautiful villa just outside of Feltre – Villa San Liberale. The interiors of the villa were just amazing.

It was a small and intimate wedding with just the family and some closest friends. They set the ceremony in a nearby forest that mede everything look even more magical.

A relaxed party.

After we came back from the photoshoot in the old town of Feltre the storm suddenly changed plans. What was on the garden table needed to relocated inside the villa. It was taken care of in a matter of minutes as everyone picked a thing and helped out. Then the sky cleared for a relaxed outdoor party. And when I say relaxed, I really mean it. They were dancing, talking, playing football and above all no one was holding back. A perfect party.
